Heber Springs School District’s performing arts building sits adjacent to the existing high school and includes a 1,000-seat auditorium, black box theater, band room, and three storm shelters. The black box theater seats 75 and is also designed to be used as a choir classroom and a green room.
The project has many sustainable features including reflective and high emissive roof materials and increased “R” values (insulation ratings) in wall and roof assemblies. Many of the building materials originated within 500 miles of the job site and are low maintenance. Efficient mechanical systems and LED lights were also used.
The large auditorium supports a variety of uses and adhered to a limited budget. The audience chamber and the band room are shielded from exterior noise using a combination of decibel-blocking double walls, multiple layers of gypsum board, and added insulation. The ceiling clouds are precisely calculated to prevent any dead zones within the apace.
Clark Contractors has also completed a 5,585 SF high school cafeteria addition/renovation, a 3,153 SF elementary administration addition/renovation, and a 1,600 SF occupational/physical therapy classroom addition/renovation for Heber Springs School District.
“I credit Clark Contractors with the general and prevailing attitude of making sure that the client was pleased with the final products. When there were concerns (which there is with every project), those were quickly alleviated.”
