This project involved a 23,102 SF interior renovation of the historic Barnett Building in downtown Batesville. The building was re-purposed for use as a public library and gathering space.
The library utilizes the first and second level floors, occupying nearly 22,000 SF, and is almost five times larger than the library’s previous space. The new library has a children’s area, teen space, computer workstations, a meeting room, law library, study areas, circulation area, drive-thru book drop-off, and a cafe.
A new HVAC system was installed, all life safety systems were upgraded (including addition of fire stair, egress pathways, and lighting), and modern finishes were added throughout. Structural work to provide open space, gathering stairs, and minor exterior work was also completed.
