Clark Contractors serves as Construction Manager for the new Ramay Junior High School, a 145,000 SF campus located in one of Fayetteville’s last remaining urban forests. Set on a 20.3-acre hillside along South Sang Avenue, the site offers a unique opportunity to integrate education, sustainability, and natural beauty in a rapidly growing part of the city.

The campus is designed to serve approximately 900 7th and 8th grade students, with a focus on creating a healthy and engaging learning environment that supports academic, physical, and emotional development. Fayetteville Public Schools identified four core values to guide the project: Engagement, Wellness, Architecture & Landscape, and Environmental Performance. These values inform every aspect of the design and construction approach.

The three-level building is strategically nestled into the hillside, with parking located beneath the structure to minimize environmental disruption and preserve as much of the existing tree canopy as possible. Mass timber construction, including glulam and CLT elements, supports the project’s carbon reduction goals, while all-electric systems and natural daylighting promote long-term sustainability and occupant wellness.

Campus features include a main gymnasium, an auxiliary gym with FEMA-rated storm shelter, a cafetorium, full-service kitchen, outdoor learning spaces, and a football field with a 300-meter track. Interior spaces are designed to foster collaboration and flexibility, while outdoor areas offer opportunities for exploration, recreation, and community engagement.
