Clark Contractors continues its partnership with the University of Arkansas as Construction Manager for Phase 2 of the Windgate project, further expanding the UA School of Art’s footprint within the Windgate Design District. This 48,000 SF addition builds on the success of the Windgate Studio and Design Center and serves as a new centerpiece for the campus’s growing arts corridor in South Fayetteville.

The Windgate Galleries are designed to function as both a teaching museum and a cultural gateway. Oriented diagonally within the campus plan, the building draws visitors from Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and welcomes them into the heart of the Design District. The galleries provide a public-facing hub for exhibitions, student art, and multidisciplinary visual arts research, while also housing key academic spaces that support the university’s expanding arts programming.

Facilities include rotating public galleries, six new classrooms, a state-of-the-art experimental media arts laboratory, and an auditorium. The layout is carefully planned to enhance connectivity between public and private areas, including efficient adjacencies between storage and exhibition spaces. The building also contributes additional green space to the campus, creating outdoor areas for both student use and public engagement.

The Windgate Galleries elevate the University of Arkansas’s commitment to the arts and complete the final piece of its Design District vision. With sustainability in mind, the project is targeting LEED Silver certification and reflects the university’s investment in creative education, cultural outreach, and national leadership in the visual arts.
